Best Rated Full-Frame Digital DSLRs- This is a roundup of the top-rated full frame digital SLRs.. Full frame Digital SLRs have the same size imaging sensor as a frame of 35mm film (used in film SLRs). These type of SLRs are used by Professionals as they will give you a bigger and brighter viewfinder, more light sensitivity, and you can use 35mm film lenses without a conversion factor. Larger imagers also provide pictures with less noise. Compare the important features and reviews of the full frame SLRs listed below. Nikon’s Full Format cameras are called FX-format. All full frame DSLRs now have a high definition movie mode, while older models did not. Use of these DSLRs for movie making and TV shows has taken off, with recent movies using Canon DSLRs for many scenes or even shooting an entire movie and/or TV show. The light weight and small size make these cameras ideal for an independent filmmaker. Recent models now have the ability to monitor the audio with headphones.

Glossary of Terms |
Full Frame = All of the cameras listed on this page have a full frame imager/sensor. This means that the sensor is the same size as 35mm film. 35mm lenses will operate on these DSLRs with the same focal lengths as they do on 35mm film cameras. ISO = This refers to how sensitive the image sensor is to the amount of light present. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive the image sensor and ability to take pictures in low-light situations. Live View = Allows you to preview your picture on the LCD screen instead of only through the viewfinder. Burst Mode = This is how many pictures (or frames) can be taken rapid fire per second at maximum resolution. HD Movie Mode = These cameras can operate as an HD video camcorder as well as an SLR. 1080p is blu-ray qualilty and runs at different frame rates. At 30fps (30 frames per second) this is normal video speed. At 24 fps this is the rate at which motion picture film is shot (also known as 24p). The season finale of the show House was recently filmed with a Canon 5D Mark II using the HD 1080p 24fps mode. External Mic Jack = This indicates that an External microphone jack is available. This is important for the best quality sound from your HD Video recording. You can use a wide array of microphones, including wireless, amplified and corded microphones. Headphone Jack = This is important for monitoring your audio levels while recording a video. Exposure Durability = How many pictures can you expect to get over the lifetime of the camera. TFT LCD = This refers to the LCD screen in the back of the camera. HDMI Uncompressed = This means that video can stream from the HDMI port uncompressed (to possibly record with an external recording device). AF Focus Points = This is the number of autofocus points available. More points are considered better. |
